*** SOLD OUT *** New workshop dates coming soon. If you would like to be the first to know about my workshop dates then please email me @firstname.lastname@example.org and I will let you know as soon as the dates are announced.
Come to Braunton Burrows and Saunton Sands in North Devon on Saturday 4th May for a fun outdoor workshop where I will teach you my style of dog photography. It's fun, relaxed and informative and you can bring your dog for a really fun afternoon (we will start around 4pm and go towards sunset, weather depending). I have never in my life seen a more dramatic, vast and stunning set of sand dunes. You really need to see this place to believe it. It takes about 20-30 minutes to get from the car park to the beach itself, over the incredible dunes. Once at the beach it’s so massive it’s hard to know where to start but the dogs will lead the way. If you have a dog that loves sand they will have the best afternoon/evening ever!
I’ll show you easy-to-use techniques that you can start using straight away. You don’t need a posh camera. You’ll learn skills and ideas that work with any type of camera, but you will need a camera that can adjust aperture and shutter settings.
The workshop will last approximately 4/5 hours and is for up to 5 participants and their dogs (you do not need to bring a dog).
Here's what we will cover:
Making the best of lighting - with the light (direct sun) and towards the light (to get silhouettes) at sunset
How to engage your dog and keep them interested - action shots and portraits
The use of angles and different lenses (if you have them).
Making the most of the sand dunes and beach as a location, using all aspects including the sandy slopes, grasses, vast open space on the beach and (if the water isn’t too far away once we get down to the beach) the sea itself.
How much does it cost?
£80. Payable in advance through my site.
Braunton Burrows and Saunton Sands, North Devon. Meeting point will be Sandy Lane car park at Braunton Burrows at 4pm (TBC nearer the time)
What if the weather is poor?
We can do the workshop in lots of weather conditions but if it's due to rain we will postpone. I will confirm two days before.
What are the times?
We aim to finish around sunset time (around 8.30pm) if it's a sunny day but if it's cloudy it will be a bit earlier. Again, I need to check the weather a couple of days before to confirm. The workshop will last approximately 4/5 hours.
Do I need to bring a dog?
No. I can provide models and others will likely bring dogs, but you must let me know if you are not bringing a dog so that if we are running short I can get some models to accompany us. All dogs that attend must get along with other dogs. We can't have any squabbles...
Do I need any photography skills?
Not really, but it would be handy if you know how to adjust aperture, shutter and ISO on your camera. If you don't know what these mean I can explain but there is, of course, less time for this on a group workshop. If you are a complete beginner you might want to consider a 1-1, but don't let this put you off, I have had complete beginners attend these workshops and get a lot out of them. Please bring your manual if you need to but I won’t have a lot of time to go through it with you.
"A friend and I had a lesson yesterday with Rhian and had a great day, lots to think about, lots of fab tips that we really would never have thought of and the dogs had a blast on the beach too, win-win situation! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge so freely!"
"Had a fantastic time and I learned so much from Rhian and her teaching was not only informative but fun too. Highly recommend these courses for anyone who wants to take the best photos of their fur babes."
